We’re working on an opportunity for a
Marketing Executive to join a busy and friendly marketing function in Essex within a
local authority organisation. This is a
10-12-month maternity cover contract. The role is
part-time (3 days/week) with flexible hours and some hybrid working.
About the Role This is a
broad and varied role working across digital and offline channels to plan, manage, and deliver targeted marketing campaigns. You’ll be responsible for generating awareness and driving engagement across a range of services, events, and campaigns that directly benefit the local community.
You'll get to work on:
- Membership marketing and retention campaigns
- Community outreach through events and seasonal activities
- Multi-channel content delivery – web, social, email, digital screens, and print
- Working across multiple venues and locations with lots of variety
The team works closely with the wider marcoms function but has a
commercial focus, supporting income-generating services which help fund a free wellbeing programme offered to the public.
Why You’ll Love It Here You’ll join a genuinely welcoming, collaborative team where creativity and initiative are encouraged. The role offers a nice mix of strategy and hands-on delivery, with the opportunity to contribute your own ideas and see them through.
- Part-time: 3 days/week (flexible working hours, ideally includes Mondays and Thursdays)
- Salary: Up to £35,000 FTE (pro rata)
- 1–2 days/week WFH after initial 6-week office-based period
- Flexibility around hours (e.g. potential for compressed hours or 5 short days)
- Occasional travel to other local sites (so a driving licence is helpful)
- Work on genuinely enjoyable campaigns, including family events, leisure, and health & wellbeing
About You We’re looking for someone
proactive, positive, and practical, who can hit the ground running and juggle multiple projects with confidence and good humour.
You should have:
- Solid experience delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns
- Strong copywriting, content, and basic design skills (Canva preferred)
- Familiarity with CRM/email platforms (e.g. Mailchimp, Hootsuite, or similar)
- An eye for accessible, inclusive marketing (fonts, colours, tone)
- Good organisational and project management skills (ideally using tools like Asana)
- A confident communicator – comfortable interviewing people and producing engaging content
Bonus if you have:
- Basic video editing skills
- Experience working in public sector, leisure, or community-focused organisations
