Ian Haysom

Contracts & Facilities Manager

The Serious Bit

Ian works tirelessly in the Finance team, handling our many client contracts and proposals, as well as managing the company’s external and internal facilities.

Prior to joining Stopgap in 2007, Ian had done everything from working overseas in Luxembourg and Milan to running his own business. Over the years he has worked for The Economist, HSBC, Hays, BT, and the American companies Holmes Products and Jarden. He has been a Credit Controller, a Web Designer, a Systems Analyst/Trainer and a Carpet Cleaner!

Whilst all this was going on Ian has worked as a professional/semi professional musician in different bands playing, rock, pop and other styles. His first paid gig was at the age of 15. He has acted on stage in a number of roles, appeared in commercials as an extra, co-produced and directed Shakespeare, written three screenplays and is currently working on his first novel.

The Fun Bit

When I was little I wanted to be

...a stuntman in movies because I really enjoyed inventing and performing stunts with my friends in our garden, including jumping off our garage roof! However, once I heard the music of ELO when I was 10 and then later The Police when I was 12, I realised I wanted to be a drummer.

The most daring things I’ve ever done are...

...jump 60ft from a cliff face into the sea on a beautiful island in the Mediterranean whilst on holiday in Turkey or cheekily hand a CD of our songs to Sting whilst at a book signing.

In my spare time you can find me

...playing or teaching guitar (including other Stopgap colleagues). Or learning new songs.
