Carolyn Boyes

Carolyn boasts an impressive 20 years’ experience designing and delivering career management solutions for individuals at all levels, from recent graduates to experienced executives. As a Hogan certified and qualified NLP coach and trainer, Carolyn coaches clients face-to-face, over the telephone or via Skype with one clear objective in mind: to perfect all the key skills necessary to stand out from the competition. Carolyn offers general career guidance as well as covering topics such as personal branding, CV advice, interview coaching, personal resilience, communication, self-employment and preparation for the first 90 days in a new role.

Carolyn’s extensive commercial background has taken her across the world, working with clients in a variety of sectors including financial services, media and communications and the public and not-for-profit sectors. In addition to her invaluable commercial acumen, Carolyn is a trained therapist and an internationally published author of a range of titles covering business skills, psychology, body language and career management.

Julie Barnes

Julie has been coaching people through job and career change for over 10 years.

She started her career as a marketing graduate working in the healthcare industry where she worked on brand, own label and new product development. She decided to travel to Australia in her early 20s which was a great character building experience!

She pursued her career in marketing and started as a line manager which she quickly realised was her passion.

Her marketing career was in the foodservice and retail industries working for large blue-chip organisations.

In her late 30s she decided to change her own career and the catalyst was a walking and coaching holiday called The Big Stretch. Julie qualified as a coach in 2004 and took a big leap of faith to become self-employed in 2005. She now works in 3 main areas: Career Coaching, Outplacement and Leadership Development.

She works with a diverse range of international clients which she loves and has a great track record in supporting people to achieve their career goals.

Her style is to quickly get to know her clients so that she can help them to get clarity on what they value in their work and life and what they specifically want to get from their next role. This is often a creative discussion to crystallise the options and then refine these to the favourite options.

Once the client knows what they are aiming for Julie can help them with the practical elements of their job search: creating an effective CV, preparing a LinkedIn profile, job search strategy, preparing and performing at interview, building confidence and visualising success.

Nick Gendler

Nick has been supporting people through job and career change for over twenty years, first as a recruiter for market research professionals before setting up Workjoy in 2002, where he continues to support individuals in a very personal and individual way as a career coach and outplacement consultant.   

He is an expert in his field, helping job seekers with all aspects of their job search from career planning, CV design and networking to video interviewing, where he explores answering difficult questions and rapport building. The aforementioned skills lend support to Nick’s fundamental mantra; it’s not the person who’s best at the job who gets the job, but the person who is best at getting the job who gets the job. If you want the job, you’ve got to make them like you!

Nick is also a qualified counsellor and applies these accompanying skills when required to reach his clients on a deeper level, helping them to overcome personal barriers in their quest to secure a new role. Equipped with an MBA, Nick is no stranger to the business world and has a wide understanding of the challenges presented by different functional roles and organisations.

Nick Thistleton

Nick’s coaching is the culmination of his eclectic career to date, as he brings together the service of his clients, his creativity, his own entrepreneurial leadership journey and his deep interest in both the human and commercial side of business.

Nick began his career as a professional pianist, working largely in musical theatre in London’s West End, as well as making various TV appearances with the likes of Lionel Richie and Gary Barlow. For much of this chapter, he moonlighted as a strategy consultant with Spectrum Strategy Consultants, working with large international clients to devise critical new media strategies as the importance of the internet emerged. Nick then spent 3 years with a small investment company, initially tasked with analysing early dotcom era business plans and later operating in a business development role for a diverse range of portfolio companies.

In 2003, he co-founded the karaoke company Lucky Voice with Martha Lane Fox, where he continues in a part-time executive role after 13 years as Managing Director. In growing Lucky Voice to become synonymous with high-quality karaoke experiences in the UK and increasingly overseas, Nick created a multi-faceted business which encompasses high-street leisure operations, international franchising, extensive proprietary technology and a B2C digital subscription offering.

Nick’s constant focus on self-development during this period, and his consequent evolution from self-confessed grumpy autocrat to enlightened motivational leader, inspired his move into coaching and continues to inform his approach. His particular passion is helping executives to both discover and implement their own authentic model of effective leadership.

Shayna Main

Shayna Main is a highly experienced career coach and development specialist. Her original career was spent in marketing and communications with assignments ranging from the launch of a pan-European television initiative for Dow Jones to handling talent for Comic Relief and re-introducing The Wombles to the world.

Shayna now spends her time coaching people on how to best maximize their potential as well as helping organisations harness and develop their talent. She runs S2 Associates where she heads a coaching team specialising in the marketing and creative industries. She also works with students from London School of Economics where she focuses on the new Masters in Marketing programme as well as psychological and behavioural science and anthropology. Shayna holds a PG Diploma in Careers Management and Coaching as well as qualifications in personal brand and style consulting.

Lizzie brings 20 years’ HR and marketing experience in global organisations to the table and her approach is grounded in the commercial world.
