How long have you been working at Stopgap? 


A year! 


And what was your career path to becoming a recruiter - do you have a background in marketing?  


I began my career at Unilever initially covering a number of administrative roles before moving into customer marketing and latterly brand.  After a number of years and really enjoying working with agencies, I jumped ship and moved agency side and weirdly worked on the Unilever account covering Persil and Comfort. That was a little strange but great to see things from the other side.  I have had the opportunity to develop campaigns for some amazing brands such as Sure, McCoy's, Weetabix, Lucozade and Ribena, to name a few.


What areas or sector do you work on at Stopgap?


I look after marketing roles on the consumer brand side (which include FMCG, Health & Beauty, Electronics, Food and Drink). Types of roles I cover are Brand or Digital to Innovation or Insight.


What do you enjoy about working as a consultant?


Helping people and making a real difference in their lives by finding them that special role.  The flipside to that....helping clients to find the right candidate for the role who fit into their culture and want to stay for the long term.


And what is special or interesting about working at Stopgap specifically?


The people. We are a unique bunch who have come from various backgrounds and have a great mix of experience.  We are one big happy family who love to help each other - if a colleague has placed a candidate it is just as fulfilling as placing one yourself in your own sector.


Do you have 3 things you've learned about recruitment during your time as a consultant?


Having patience, never giving up, being in the right place at the right time.
