It's my job to make sure both candidates and staff receive their pay at the end of each month, and then to make sure all Stopgaps’ pennies add up ready for the Financial Director.
I sort of fell into finance at the young age of 19 when not knowing what to do with my life I went for a job at Barclays Bank. Knowing that numbers was where my head was at, I moved to a construction recruitment company working in the payroll department where women were seen and not heard, but soon changed that one. From there I found Stopgap and went from working with 90% men to 90% women which took a bit of adapting to. Starting in the payroll department I moved onto purchase ledger and now help balance the books at the end of the month. Even after 13 years, I still love dealing with the candidates on a day to day basis.
What everyone knows about me is that I embrace the inner child and LOVE Disney. Now, before you think I’m all girly and into princesses it's more the magic and fun aspect that it brings to a normal day to day life of a 40 something year old that I love the most. Thankfully to add to my addiction, my sister now lives in Orlando, Florida and is 15 minutes from Disneyworld!! So you will find me visiting the Florida sunshine twice a year. When not meeting up with Mickey I live near the New Forest, so most weekends you will find my husband and I walking the dogs in the gorgeous forest, come rain or shine.
Having been at Stopgap for 13 plus years, I am officially part of the furniture, I have grown professionally and personally in this unique business with the help of a great support team around me.
You can’t really call my speed running! My biggest challenge to date and probably ever, is competing in the Disneyworld Dopey Challenge which involved running a 5k, 10k, half marathon and full marathon on consecutive days.
