You may have heard we're positively different. But how? Well, for a start, Claire Owen decided 14 years ago that she wanted to create an independent marketing recruitment company that cares about the people rather than the financial bottom line. We're matchmakers not brokers, guided by our hearts as much as our heads. With these values in mind, Stopgap was founded. Run by ex-marketers, it was the first specialist freelance recruitment agency in the UK.

It's now 2008 and those initial values haven't changed, although the name has! Due to branching out into permanent roles and executive search and interim, the decision was made to create a company 'umbrella,' The SG Group, under which all these great services would sit. So now we have Stopgap, RightStop and Fitzroy, plus the well-established Courtenay HR and The SG Group Australia.

Stopgap -   Provides skilled marketing freelancers at a junior to mid-management level. If you're a candidate looking for job flexibility, an insight into other industries or perhaps a step towards finding a permanent position, this is the area for you. If you're a client, we make sure we uncover what makes our candidates tick, which means we're not second-guessing when it comes to selecting the right individual for your company. Unlike most recruitment agencies, our consultants are not paid commission, so you're guaranteed objective advice and opinions, whether a client or candidate.

RightStop -  This is our permanent service, for junior to middle management marketing roles. If you're looking for a new challenge, we can help you on your way. If you give us a brief, we will give you a tailored, individual approach, knowing that every role is different. Our consultants have typically worked in the marketing and creative industries, so they have the experience to understand and appreciate both a client's business and a candidate's career issues.

Fitzroy -  Our executive search and interim arm, which focuses purely on senior marketing roles. Fitzroy is about total fit. We really get to know our clients and our candidates. The better the match between a candidate's personality and values and those of a company, the more fruitful the relationship will be. We cover search and selection, helping our clients reach those 'hard to find' individuals. And when it comes to our candidates, we will only recommend you to a client at your specific request.

Courtenay HR -  Whether your criteria is interim or permanent search and selection, we know the HR territory inside out. (After all, we've had over 30 years experience doing it!)
